In the beginning of 2020 I set out my goals based on 8 tenets: Spirituality, Mind Soundness, Fitness/Health, Romance, Family, Financial Stability, Career and Business, Influence and Significance.
In this post I’ll focus on the first aspect of these areas, SPIRITUALITY, since it’ll make for a super long post if I were to tackle all areas at once. Keep in mind each area has 3 subsequent parts: Maintain / Do More / Do Less
Here's my report for the First Quarter of this year for Spirituality:
Maintain Praying on my Knees daily: DONE. Currently I’m on day 121 of consecutive days praying on my knees.
Maintain Reading Bible daily: DONE. Currently I’m on day 438 of consecutive days reading my Bible.
Maintain Journaling daily: DONE. Currently I’m on day 438 of consecutive days journaling
Maintain Attending Church regularly: NOT DONE. Currently we are under coronavirus lockdown and to be honest watching a church service online isn’t my cup to tea.
Maintain Male Accountability Partner: DONE. Aldo (accountability partner here in the USA) and I connect via phone about 2/3 times per week and have been doing so consistently for a few years now. My accountability partner from the Dominican Republic and I haven’t connected much lately
Do MORE Sabbath: DONE. This Lent season I picked fasting as a way to break my day and embed a sense of sabbath/discipline/self-depravation. In the same vain I've incorporated intentional mediation/breathing throughout my week. NeedImprovement? setting an actual day to honor God, self, others and creation.
Do MORE Fasting: DONE.
Do LESS Instagram: DONE. This I've accomplished by limiting the app to 1 minute per day. After that minute the app shuts down until next day. Need Improvement? Watch out for IGTV.
Do LESS: Online Buying: DONE. This year I've done 3 purchases in Amazon. This is HUGE!. Now, we've somewhat made up with eBay but remember we are aiming at progress, not perfection. Need Improvement? Slow down eBay.
Do LESS "Pride of Life": ???. This is a tough one because this isn't about 1 thing in specific and more about a way of living, every day. Let's just say I've been aware of it more and more.
Do LESS "Lust of Eyes": ???. Much like the one before, this is more of a daily reminder of my own weaknesses than targeting something in specific.
Do LESS "Lust of the Flesh": ??? Ibid.
Looking back at the 1Q I think the last 3 "Do Less" perhaps do not belong to this set of goals. Perhaps they belong to a 'life code' of sorts instead of a checkbox list such as this.
Beyond that it is clear I need to work more on my Sabbath as a DAY and not just embedded within every day. Also my meditation/breathing I believe needs to deepen/evolve. Right now is directly related to the group of people I mediate with, and I haven't developed the routine/discipline to do it on my own.
