“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”” Mark 14:38 NIV
There’s a difference between temptations and tribulations (see James chapter 1). Tribulations are a part of life, completely unavoidable. Temptations on the other hand are a part of our desires and are completely avoidable. But how? How can we avoid temptations? By WATCHING and PRAYING.
This year my Bible reading has kept up with 2019. I’ve added fasting to my spiritual practices and even breathing/meditation as well. My prayer life? Is about the same, sadly. How about my watching? Surprisingly enough, and thanks to my accountability partner, that part has been solid.
Most of us lack in either the “watching” or the “praying”. Some lack in both. I’d say the majority only pray our Lords Prayer (lead us not into temptation) and call it a day.
Let us be reminded temptations are avoidable. Jesus gave us the key: WATCH and PRAY.
