“The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”” Mark 10:26-27 NIV
Sometimes we trivialize salvation as “since I’m not as bad as... therefore I’m good”. However even Jesus’ closest disciples at one point or another were perplexed and confounded in regards to how difficult it is to achieve salvation.
Jesus just kept raising the bar higher and higher than not even the almost-perfect religious leaders qualified for salvation. This is when the disciples just reached the end of their rope and asked Jesus “then who can achieve this?”... and this is when Jesus reveal that it is ALL about God, not about us.
The moment we shift fuel, see ourselves as incapable of such divine transformation and acknowledge God as the author and sustainer is the moment we start living heaven even here on earth. However when we take salvation upon our own merit is the moment pride and entitlement creeps into our heart.
Let us explore this question and ask God who in the world is capable/worthy of salvation! Let God reveal to us his sufficiency, unfailing, and saving love.
