“When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.” Mark 12:25 NIV
Relax. This has nothing to do with being cooped up during this quarantine and the stresses of virtual school, chores, or not washing our hands as much as we could. This is about Jesus hinting at the fact there will be no marriages in heaven.
But why? Why wouldn’t something we cherish so much on earth not be replicated in heaven? Isn’t marriage a good thing? Yes, it is. But do you know what’s even better? GOD.
I believe what we love most about our intimate relationship is a slice of God. What we enjoy about friendships is also a slice of God. Even the high that we seek is a search for God. And guess what? We will have ALL of that in a place we call heaven!
Let’s face it, more than half of marital problems never go away. People, as amazing as they are, will fail us... almost on the clock. There’s no perfect partner. But there’s a perfect God that can be found anywhere, anytime, and with whomever.
Let us focus in finding God in all we do and celebrate the gift of intimacy as imperfect as it is.
If I could give you a hug, hi5, or fist bump from here I definitely would. As long as you don't mind a couple typos here and there, you're MOST welcome to check in, drop a comment here and there, and make yourself at home.
