““ ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ””
Luke 16:30-31 NIV
People often say ‘if I receive/see XYZ miracle... then I’ll believe in God’ but today’s reading tells us people rarely change due to an extraordinary occurrence, but rather by exercising faith.
It is the exercise of faith, the act of daily surrender, that holds the key of our transformation. Many of us already have seen/received extraordinary things, and yet after that initial hit of dopamine our lives regress back to business-as-usual... EGO in charge.
Let us hope less in the extraordinary and do more with the ordinary. Today is the perfect day to practice submitting ourselves to God in all we do.
