“In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.”
Luke 14:33 NIV
Why wouldn’t Jesus made it a bit easier, more convenient to be one of his followers? The message would’ve spread faster if it was made a bit more diluted, such as “give up what you can” or “think of positive things” or maybe “every once in a while come to church”.
Instead Jesus goes all in declaring if we “do not give up everything” we can be one of his disciples. Perhaps his light is so vast that it needs ALL the space we have in order to connect with us. Perhaps his energy is so powerful that it requieres every inch of caliber in our being. Perhaps the substance simply can’t be received unless the container is wide open.
Let us ask God to keep opening our minds, and to make us fit for him to make himself at home in our lives.
If I could give you a hug, hi5, or fist bump from here I definitely would. As long as you don't mind a couple typos here and there, you're MOST welcome to check in, drop a comment here and there, and make yourself at home.
