““Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” John 12:27-28 NIV
Jesus knew his time has come and it wasn’t a pleasant feeling. He knew he was about to be arrested, judged, misjudged, wrongly accused, betrayed, punished, mocked, and ultimately crucified. Imagine knowing all of this was about to happen to you... your soul would be troubled too.
This past Thursday I went to my regular counseling sessions with a troubled heart. I was/am in the midst of selling/buying properties, hoping to get a mortgage loan by closing date, things weren’t lining up financially for closing date, people weren’t bidding on the house we are selling... you know, the kinds of things that we have very little control. My first instinct was to seek a hit of dopamine, to unplug somehow someway, to tap out.
In this hour Jesus said he wouldn’t tap out but rather he’d stay in. He would weather the storm and glorify the Father in the midst of the storm. As for my dopamine hit I resolved to order a frozen diet lemonade from Chick-fil-A, and luckily it did the trick.
Let us realize the time to glorify God is NOW. The way to do so isn’t running away, but facing the challenge and trusting God for our provisions.
If I could give you a hug, hi5, or fist bump from here I definitely would. As long as you don't mind a couple typos here and there, you're MOST welcome to check in, drop a comment here and there, and make yourself at home.
