“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” Acts 2:21 NIV
What does that mean? Saved as in eternal salvation? Saved from a particular problem? I think salvation starts the moment we look out of ourselves, pass and through things, and we direct our attention to that Power Higher than any of us. That moment in which we ‘call upon the name of the Lord’ is the moment we do not call upon our own name nor we seek out fulfillment in people, places, and things.
Salvation starts by thinking of us less. The thief by the cross experienced salvation the moment he stopped thinking about his own situation and looked after Jesus himself. Mary Magdalene experiences salvation the moment she went out of her way and dumped a precious perfume on Jesus feet. Do you know who didn’t experienced salvation? The one who always thought his own riches, his own gains, even while walking near Jesus for three years: Judas.
Let us call upon the name of the Lord today at all times and experience salvation here and now.
