““A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”” John 13:34-35 NIV
Why will Jesus said this is a NEW commandment? I mean we are way pass the halfway point in the biblical narrative and I’m pretty sure God the Father has addressed this already in the Old Testament.
For some reason I believe Jesus was referring to love one another not as an accessory, an add on, but as the trademark that we will be known for in this world. It seems as if Jesus elevated love from a characteristic to our identity. Love isn’t something we do, but rather is who we ought to become.
Let us heed at Jesus new commandment and keep aiming to live up to it. Let us aim to become love to all.
