“Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?” “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” John 4:31-34 NIV
Food plays an important part of my life. What do I eat, when do I eat it, and specially how much of it do I eat! The older I get the more selective I become on the what/when/how much and it seems Jesus also had a particularity with food: spiritual food.
Jesus loved to eat and drink as evidenced in the Gospels, but he was also very keen in select the best source, the best time, and the best portion. This spiritual food of Jesus came from a different realm, he consumed it as often as possible, and as much as he could.
Keep in mind Jesus was GOD so technically he doesn’t really need all this spiritual food, yet we treated it as a priority. We, on the other hand, are NOT GOD and most of the time treat it as an afterthought.
Let us learn from the Master here and make spiritual feasting a staple in our daily diet.
