“As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.” Luke 17:12-14 NIV
This is one of my favorite stories in the Gospel. 10 men said ‘Jesus take pity on us’, Jesus never promised healing and instead he gives them a command. As they went, as they obeyed, they were cleansed.
This I see in my life time and time and time again. Yes, I’m promised life and blessings, but let’s be honest here: the Bible doesn’t have a specific answer to my many and diverse Q&A. So, how does my faith work then? By following, by surrendering, by obeying.
As we follow, as we surrender, as we obey, we will experience a level of clarity and freedom we simply didn’t have before. What that will look like is imposible for me to know, but as I’m writing this I can tell you I’ve been reading the Bible, reflecting, and journaling for over 450 days straight... unbroken. As I do this I’m less of a selfish a**hole, and more a peace with myself and others.
Let us follow Jesus everyday even if we do not have the specific answer/promise right off the bat. It’s called faith for a reason after all.
If I could give you a hug, hi5, or fist bump from here I definitely would. As long as you don't mind a couple typos here and there, you're MOST welcome to check in, drop a comment here and there, and make yourself at home.
