“When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.” Luke 23:33-34 NIV
In case it isn’t clear, Jesus is being crucified at this moment. The logical thing is to be a little selfish as one is gasping for air. I wouldn’t discard being a little angry at whoever put us in that position. This is when Jesus reveals even more of his true colors by advocating on behalf of the world.
I say the world because it wasn’t ‘the jews’ or ‘the romans’ that hung him there, but humanity itself, past and future, you and me. Yet, his response is compassionate and literally out-of-this-world.
God, grant us the gift of perspective when it matters most. Give us a otherworldly response to a world that prompt us to be reactive. In your name we pray, amen.
If I could give you a hug, hi5, or fist bump from here I definitely would. As long as you don't mind a couple typos here and there, you're MOST welcome to check in, drop a comment here and there, and make yourself at home.
