“When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort.” Luke 23:8 NIV
Herod and Jesus, once again. Truth to be told if I remember correctly this is the same Herod that wanted to ‘meet’ Jesus when he was born, or his related to that Herod. Regardless, this runs in the family. They all wanted to meet Jesus. That’s good right? After all isn’t that what we hear some people say, ‘You need to meet Jesus’?
Turns out meeting Jesus isn’t enough and it doesn’t equate to a transformed life. In this case meeting Jesus was sought after because the recipient wanted to be ENTERTAINED, not transformed. He wanted to see Jesus perform a miracle or something, that was all.
The trick is to surrender to Jesus, not just to meet him. Quite frankly I believe all of us have met Jesus one form or another. Very few however hace surrender to Him. That’s the ultimate combination, our faith and his power.
